Millenium Partners Files 'Notice of Project Change' for the Hayward Place Development

Millennium Partners-Boston announced today that it had filed a "Notice of Project Change" for its Hayward Place project with the BRA. Today's announcement is an important milestone that will lead to a spring construction start of a new residential building in Downtown Crossing. The Hayward Place Project is being revised as a 15 story, 265 residential building with rental and for sale units, and 12,000 square feet of retail space. This project will enhance the Downtown Crossing Neighborhood by bringing new residents and street activity.


Mayor Thomas M. Menino welcomed today's filing, "This project represents a dramatic $200 million in private investment that will be a tremendous boost for Downtown Crossing and the Theatre District. Millennium Partners was there for Boston with its Ritz-Carlton Towers and as a leader in the City's first Business Improvement District; and is with us again today helping by bring nearly 300 jobs, $2 milliion in annual tax revenue and 24-hour vitality to our city."

2nd Symposium on the Greening of Government Center

The BRA invites you to the second Symposium on the Greening of Government Center, to take place on Monday, February 7th from 4-6pm at the Modern Theatre located at 523-525 Washington St in Downtown Crossing (see below for invite). The Symposium will be free and open to the public, and will feature an update presentation by the firms leading the redesign process, Utile Inc. and Reed Hilderbrand Associates, as well as commentary form a panel of prominent Boston design experts, Alex Krieger of Chan Krieger NBBJ and Ted Landsmark of the Boston Architectural College.

This event will serve to update the public on the results of a 3-day charrette on the redesign of Government Center held by Boston-based Utile Inc. in mid-December 2010. The charrette brought together leaders from both the public and private sector to provide their insight and commentary on a new vision for a greener and more accessible Government Center and City Hall Plaza. Tim Love of Utile Inc. will be presenting the key recommendations and ideas from the charrette, and Tim Love and Gary Hilderbrand of Reed Hilderbrand will discuss their thoughts on the next steps for the green redesign of Government Center. Alex Krieger of Chan Krieger NBBJ and Ted Landsmark of the Boston Architectural College will be sitting on a panel to provide feedback on the design and recommendations. As in the last symposium, the event will provide a chance for the public to ask questions of the presenters and panel, as well as share their thoughts on the Greening of Government Center.

Mass Challenge Partners with Startup America

Washington D.C.– January 31, 2011 –Today, the White House celebrated the MassChallenge Startup Competition and Accelerator as one of the most promising initiatives in the country for supporting entrepreneurs, and announced MassChallenge as a partner in the new Startup America Partnership, an independent entity co-funded by the Kauffman Foundation and the Case Foundation.


MassChallenge is the world’s largest global startup competition and accelerator program. The Startup America Partnership is a White House initiative to celebrate, inspire, and accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship throughout the nation. The launch of the Startup America Partnership comes less than a week after the 2011 State of the Union Address, in which President Obama spoke boldly about America’s history and future as a global leader in innovation and entrepreneurship. “We're the nation that put cars in driveways and computers in offices; the nation of Edison and the Wright brothers; of Google and Facebook. We're a nation that says, I might not have a lot of money, but I have this great idea for a new company .... We Do Big Things. "
